[Agvisors] Dean's Leadership 50 Nominations and Information

Hello Everyone,

As you are getting back into orientation mode and preparing for classes to start I'd like to ask for your assistance.

Nominations for membership in the Dean's Leadership 50 (DL50) are now open.  As you prepare for students to return or if you encounter an exceptional freshman that might benefit from and enjoy participating in the DL50 please nominate them.  Keep in mind in order to be eligible students must be enrolled in a CALS Major, have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better, and it is preferred they have 3 semester before graduation (2 is accepted in some cases).

To remind you what the Dean's Leadership 50 is and does for students the program focuses on:

*         Building advanced essential career skills

o   Communication

o   Critical thinking

o   Problem solving

o   Teamwork

o   Emotional Intelligence

*         Developing a basic understanding of business practices

*         Instilling critical management concepts

*         Enhancing and creating leadership skills and thinking

*         Participating in real-world based experiential learning projects


Students who participate in the program have the opportunity to interact with employers and industry representatives as part of CALS Career Center events and activities.

The reason to nominate students is it encourages participation from students who might not be willing to put themselves out there, and nominations encourage a greater representation from all CALS majors.  Nominees will be contacted and encouraged to apply, during the selection process your nomination will provide bonus points for students.  Students may self-nominate for consideration and all will go through the same selection process.
