I wanted to share with you an event I came across today, Controversial Issues in Higher Education (CIHE) Symposium, to be held June 27.  You may have already heard about it, I hadn't yet, so I wanted to share.  We do not have any NSO or TSO that date.  I have registered to attend, the cost is free for UA staff & students.  Anybody else want to go too?  Specific details like start and end time are TBA per their site.

"University of Arizona Campus Life is pleased to announce the 2019 Controversial Issues in Higher Education Symposium.

Formerly focused on constitutional issues, this year's program will be expanded to encompass a wider range of controversial issues, examining provocative and timely topics that inform contemporary practice in higher education and ultimately shape the experience of today's students.

We are pleased to announce our 2019 keynote, Dr. Victoria Jackson, and our afternoon plenary, Dr. Howard Gillman. By problematizing our current system, Dr. Victoria Jackson will engage in discussion and critical thinking on contemporary collegiate athletics. In a time of trigger warnings and safe spaces, Dr. Gillman will lead us in thinking about the tensions that may arise as we negotiate our commitment to free speech as well as safety on a college campus. Dr. Jackson and Dr. Gillman are two of today's thought-leaders in the practice and inquiry of higher education.

We hope you will join us for a day of discussion, reflection, and learning! Program details are forthcoming."
