Hello Advisors,

Greetings from the Writing Program!

As we gear up for the new semester, we will be emailing students (see attached sample) who have a writing placement but do not yet have a first-year writing course on their schedules. As we know, these courses are critical for students in their first year, as well as pre-requisites for upper-division courses. Students should register for these courses if they have not done so.

The attached student email message is scheduled for Friday, August 10th distribution.

We have attached reports of students we plan to contact. Reports are sorted by college/major. Not Enrolled in ENGL101A report shows students with UAENGL (UAWP or UACH) 100.0-100.9 placement, and Not Enrolled in ENGL101 report shows students with UAENGL (UAWP or UACH) 101.00-101.9 placements.

If there is a preference for students in your programs/majors to complete first-year Writing in Spring/Summer, please contact me, Mónica De Soto Vega (movega at email.arizona.edu<mailto:movega at email.arizona.edu>) immediately and we can exclude these students from the student email distribution list.

We are encouraging students to add these courses on their own, but some may require further assistance (i.e., dropping/changing courses or units to free up time on their schedules). Should you have opportunities to assist students with ENGL enrollment, we welcome the help! For those who have super user access, we do ask that when viewing the schedule of classes for seat availability, please make sure to filter for open classes only so as not to inadvertently over-enroll a course. Seat caps are 19.

We will also provide additional writing course registration assistance on August 17, from 8:00-4:00 (location TBD). Once we have the room confirmed, we will send an update.
