[Agvisors] 4/27 Transfer Student Orientation Information

Greetings Agvisors,

Below and attached is additional information on the transfer student orientation to take place this Friday April 27, 2018.

Transfer Student Orientation:

*        Beginning this year, Transfer Student Orientation is a mandatory program for all UA transfer students.

*        Check-in is from 7:30-8:30am in the Diamond Atrium on the third floor of the SUMC.

*        Honors students have a mandatory presentation from 8:20-8:50am.

*        Around 9:30am, the New Student Services staff will transition from the Diamond Atrium to outside of the Transfer Student Center (4th floor of SUMC), where students and guests can be sent with any questions.

*        College Meetings will be from 9:45-11:15am. CALS will be at the SUMC Santa Rita Room.

*        At the College Meeting, students will sign up for a half-hour advising appointment (or group advising if major advisor requests this) to start at 12pm with last appointment at 4:30pm.  Students will sign up via the online form Amanda created.

o   Advising will start at 12pm and students will be referred to the advisors' location. Note that transfer students will not be pre-scheduled in classes.

o   Change of Schedule computer lab will be available at the ILC to assist students with registration.

o   CAS Advisors will remove the advising holds individually for each student after they check in at the college meeting. Batch releasing is not being done to ensure all students did attend the orientation.

o   Immunization holds will be released the day of orientation in the morning to allow registration, but will be replaced that evening by the orientation office (unless they officially submit the form to campus health).

o   Students who do not attend the program will have their enrollment appointments removed until a future Orientation session.

o   If a student wishes to change their major to another one in CALS send them to Forbes 203. If they wish to change to a non-CALS major, they should be sent to the Orientation Information Center at the Transfer Student Center. NSS staff will contact designated college contacts to schedule an individual advising appointment that day or identify an alternative plan if none are available.

*        Beyond academics, participants have the opportunity to learn about campus services through a Resource Fair, Conference Sessions, and Open Houses.

*        There is also an optional guest program.

o   Registration fee for guests is $35 to cover program expenses.

o   The guest program largely mirrors the student schedule; however, CatChat and the advising appointments are student-only sessions.

*        There are  a total of 225 students (33 CALS) and 66 guests registered for Friday's program.
