We have two positions and we need a full commitment for the 400 hr or the 1040 hrs, starting ASAP. Applicants must be a U.S. citizen, 18 years or older and possess a valid driver's license.
One is for 400 hrs:
This position entails working with wheat producers and harvesters to ensure the crop can qualify for foreign trade and domestic uses. The incumbent must work without direct oversight and pay close attention to detail. The job can be physically demanding while working in the Arizona environment and includes collecting samples from large farm machinery and transporting them to the laboratory for analysis. After successful completion of identification training the incumbent will process samples for the identification of wheat diseases and record and report the results with 100% accuracy.
The position is seasonal with an anticipated May starting date and should run for ten weeks, based on the needs of the program. The regular shift is from 7:00 to 3:30<x-apple-data-detectors://1> but during wheat harvest, will include longer hours and some weekend work. The hourly pay is dependent on qualifications but is anticipated to be $10.09 to $12.36 per hour. The position is not eligible for health insurance benefits.
The other position is for 1040 hrs working on biocontrol projects:
This position will help in survey, monitoring, and control of various invasive species in Arizona. The position will help in collecting various biocontrol agents to be distributed in areas which are infested with various invasive species. Projects that may be worked on are Dalmatian toadflax, Diffused knapweed, Russian knapweed, leafy spurge, Giant Arundo etc. The incumbent will travel out of town weekly throughout the season to various locations in Arizona where work will be conducted. Some knowledge of plant/insect interactions is necessary. Driver's license and good driving record is mandatory. Use of a GPS and mapping skills is mandatory. Incumbent should have a working knowledge of botany and insect study.
