Greetings Agvisors,

AREC 239 is a new stats course offered in-house that may satisfy the stats requirement in your major(s).  If the course does satisfy a stats requirement in your degree programs please work with Heather Jepsen (jepsenh at email.arizona.edu<mailto:jepsenh at email.arizona.edu>) to add the course as one that satisfies the requirement on the ADVIP; otherwise a manual exception will have to be entered for each student.

Dr. Thompson, thank you for the course announcement.  Being that the course has college algebra as a pre-requisite have you considered routing it through the Math department to determine if it can also satisfy the Foundation Math requirement for majors that only require college algebra (Moderate Math Strand/M-Strand<http://catalog.arizona.edu/policy/mathematics-requirements-foundations>)? As I mentioned today, AREC will now be offering a new Introduction to Statistics class, which requires College Algebra as a pre-requisite.  For those of you for whom your majors require an intro stats class with that pre-req, I'd urge you to let your advisors know about this class.  All the SCH generated by this class will help the CALS tally grow.  In case you're interested in student numbers, I've included the rationale for this class we submitted when proposing the course.  Thanks for passing this information along to all your advisors and relevant faculty.
