Subject: [src] New SAT

Dear All,

The new SAT was offered for the first time on March 5, 2016.

There are a few key changes to the SAT, the most notable changes include an optional essay and no penalty for guessing. The College Board website provides a detailed chart comparing the old test with the new test. You can review this information here: https://collegereadiness.collegeboard.org/sat/inside-the-test/compare-old-new-specifications.

As a reminder, the University of Arizona does not require test scores for general admission (if all other requirements are met). However, test scores are required for consideration of the following: merit aid, Honors College admission, and College of Engineering admission.

The College Board will be releasing concordance tables after May 1. This is after our deadline, so for students who are taking the SAT for the first time in March and qualify for a merit based scholarship and/or the honors college based on this test score, will receive notification as soon as possible, but it will be after May 1.

For students who are re-taking the SAT in March and qualify for a merit based scholarship andor the honors college, or upgraded scholarship, based on this test score, will receive notification as soon as possible, but it will be after May 1.
