Subject: [uaac] communication to students from OSFA

UAAC:

A communication recently went out from OSFA regarding financial aid for students enrolled in less than 12 units. (copy pasted below) The problem is that most Tier I seats are currently still being held for orientation and students are unable to register for additional classes. No worries, there are plenty of Tier I seats for swapping purposes and for the orientations scheduled for August.

As you likely know, we work closely with Room and Course Scheduling to release more Tier I seats in July and first send a message to freshmen with less than 12 units followed by a communication to all freshmen one week later. That plan is still underway and I will send an announcement to this listserv when it goes out. In the meantime, Room and Course has agreed to put just a few seats out across all of the Tier I areas today so that any student receiving the communication from OSFA will be able to find courses to register for. More availability will be coming in the next week.

I ask that you do not announce this unofficial seat release to students. We will know that students receiving the OSFA email will be able to find courses available.

Thank you!
Roxie

Financial aid is initially awarded on the assumption of full time enrollment (12 or more units). You are currently not enrolled as a full time student. If you are not enrolled in at least 12 units by the end of June, your aid may be adjusted down to reflect your point-in-time enrollment.

If you intend to be enrolled in less than 12 UA units for Fall 2016 your aid will automatically be reduced to reflect your actual enrollment status. You do not need to take any action.

However, if you plan on being enrolled in 12 or more units for Fall 2016, you must add units before or during the first 2 weeks of classes (prior to the last day to drop without a W grade), in order for your aid to be re-reviewed and reinstated to full time eligibility by mid-September.

  .

Thank you,

Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid
