Subject: Undergraduate Research Grants for Next Year

Dear Current and Former Undergraduate Research Mentors,

I regret to inform you that the Undergraduate Research Grant program will no longer be funded by the University of Arizona Vice President for Research. As you know, this program provided students with research support for nearly 30 years.

The Honors College will offer a new program to support Honors students' research. Small grants will enable students to do research during the summer on projects of their own design. Students can apply in all fields and majors. Juniors who need extra time or resources for data collection for their Honors thesis can get a head start. Students will be required to present their research at the Student Showcase or the Honors Forum in the spring of next year.

The applications are available on line. Please help spread the word to interested students.

SIRP PROPOSAL DEADLINE: FEBRUARY 19
Do you want to work on a research project that isn't determined for you by a professor or syllabus, but you lack the guidance or funding? If so, this grant is perfect for you.

The Spirit of Inquiry Research Program provides grants to any Honors student, regardless of major, to pursue research projects of their own design under the guidance of a top UA faculty mentor. Research can be done in any field.

Grants are awarded up to $1,500. A committee comprised of students, faculty, and community members selects the award-winning proposals. All Spirit of Inquiry Research Grant recipients present their work in the Spring semester following their award.

The deadline to submit your proposal is February 19, 2016.
