Dear students,
 The new attached course was designed for students and professionals interested in working with/in China, one of the fastest growing economies worldwide, and its peoples.
 Course Objectives: The main goal of the course is to provide students with the basic language skills they will need in a business setting in China, Hong Kong or Taiwan.   During the course, students will learn simple communicative tasks in social and business situations, such as greeting people, asking for basic personal information, and meeting people in a company;
•      practice communicative skills in a variety of simulated contexts in a small group;
•      read and write simple forms and documents, such as short messages, simple notes, and business cards;
•      learn basic social norms and modes of interaction in a Chinese society.
Learner outcomes: At the end of the course, students should know how to
•      greet someone when meeting for the first time;
•      greet someone depending on the time of day;
•      address people by their correct title;
•      inquire about a third person’s job functions;
•      talk about their family and ask about someone else’s family;
•      discuss the size of a company;
•      inquire about the whereabouts of business contacts;
•      express time of day, days of a week and days of a month
•      set up appointments
•      obtain someone’s contact information
•      reschedule an appointment
