Good Day,

Admissions would like to share with you an important update to the evaluation of college transcripts for admission review for veteran’s. This evaluation is related to a military statute related to admission of students to universities who have served 2 or more years in the military.

Admissibility and evaluation of transcripts for applicants with military service:

Applicants who have served or are serving in the military for at least 2 years prior to enrollment are eligible to receive a “pardon” for any Failed coursework completed at a College or University in the state of Arizona before their military service.

New Students

•         Eligibility for military statute: Self-reported or confirmed military service of 2 years or more. Includes currently serving & previously served on active duty in the U.S. Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, Coast Guard, Reservists or National Guardsmen. Spouses and dependents of military applicants are not eligible for the military statute. If the military applicant was dis-honorably discharged they are not eligible.

•         The pardon applies only to coursework taken before their military service.

•         Pardon only applies to College or University coursework taken at an in-state, Arizona Institution (UofA, ASU, NAU, Pima CC, Maricopa CC, etc.).
Readmission Applicants

•         If applicant left UA in poor standing then joined the military, any failed coursework from UA cannot be used to deny the applicant re-admission.  Their previous UA grade point average will remain on record.

•         15-1626. General administrative powers and duties of board; definition

•         10. Prescribe qualifications for admission of all students to the universities. The board shall establish policies for guaranteed admission that assure fair and equitable access to students in this state from public, private and charter schools and homeschools. For the purpose of determining the qualifications of honorably discharged veterans, veterans are those persons who served in the armed forces for a minimum of two years and who were previously enrolled at a university or community college in this state. No prior failing grades received by the veteran at the university or community college in this state may be considered.
