Subject: [UPAC] Certificate in Middle Eastern Studies

Dear UA advisors,
The Center for Middle Eastern Studies offers a Certificate in Middle Eastern Studies to UA undergraduate students. Please share the following information with your students so they can make plans to take the appropriate courses.
* Requires completion of 18 credit hours from a list of eligible courses
* 9 credits must be non-language courses
* Minimum GPA of 2.5 (for the eligible courses only)
* Useful for students in any major (Students with a major or minor in Middle Eastern & North African Studies are not eligible)
To apply for a certificate, students need to fill out and submit the attached application (also available on the website below) in their final semester or after graduation. A list of eligible courses and more information can be found at http://cmes.arizona.edu/certificate.
This is not an official university-approved certificate and will not be noted on transcripts. That being said, earning a Certificate in Middle Eastern Studies from the Center for Middle Eastern Studies, a U.S. Department of Education Title VI National Resource Center, and one of only 15 in the country focused on the Middle East and North Africa, is a notable achievement that a student can add to her/his resume or CV.
