Subject: Updated Plan for S4S eligible students
Good afternoon everyone, sorry for the duplicate messages for those of you
on multiple lists. I hope the first few weeks of classes treated you all
well as you provided our students with everything they needed to get the
year started in the right direction. I wanted to share the updated plan for
the group of students from the last two August orientations who could not
enroll in S4S.
There are approximately 50 students in this group. These students will have
the opportunity to receive a slightly adapted version of high quality
support from my student success team. In addition, some of these students
are already receiving quality support from other programs including the SALT
Center, Arizona Assurance, and Peer Mentoring in Academic Success and
Achievement (ASA).
Students will be:
* Entered into the Map Works retention platform so they can easily be
monitored, complete the fall transition survey, and connect with their
success team of professional staff in Residence Life, the Think Tank, and
Academic Success & Achievement (ASA).
* Contacted through outreach phone calls/emails and be included in our
weekly Wildcat Connections email that comes from ASA.
* Invited to an S4S Information Session through the Think Tank so they
can learn about how to enroll in our late start SAS100AX courses that begin
in mid-October.
The student success team is closely monitoring these students and Cassandra
from the Think Tank will connect the college advising coordinators who have
students in the S4S eligible group to discuss whether a late start SAS100AX
course is a good option for them based on the available course times, their
degree plan, course requirements, and overall transition to UA.
By enrolling in the late start SAS100AX course, these students can brush up
on their math skills, learn the ALEKS platform, and retake their placement
test so they can have strong momentum in their math course during spring
2015.
My team and I are excited about expanding the S4S program to serve more
students this fall and if we can be of any assistance or answer any
questions please do not hesitate to contact me.
Regards, Jeff.
