Advising Resource Center
Appreciative Advising (AA) is one of the most powerful educational trends to
sweep across college campuses in decades.
First proposed by Jennifer Bloom a little over a decade ago, this advisement
policy has been employed by colleges across the Southeast with revolutionary
results.
Based upon the organizational development theory of Appreciative Inquiry and
Positive Psychology literature, Appreciative Advising provides a flexible
framework for professionals to optimize student success.
Students are retained one student at a time and it is crucial that
administrators, staff, and faculty partner together to optimize student
learning experiences. Appreciative Advising gives educators and
paraprofessionals the tools to do just that.
During this webinar "

Advising, including a brief overview of Appreciative Inquiry.

* Learn how to ask positive, open-ended questions that will help
professionals and faculty build rapport with students.
* Learn how to use verbal and non-verbal immediacy behaviors that can
put students at ease.
* Explore potential adaptations of the model in participants'
individual working environment.
Who Should Attend:
* Academic advisors and advising administrators
