Arizona’s Science, Engineering, and Math Scholars (ASEM Scholars) program is currently accepting applications for the Spring of 2015 from University of Arizona students majoring in science, technology, engineering, math (STEM) or health sciences!

The freshman portion of the ASEM Scholars program is provided in the spring through a one-unit course (SCI 195B) that meets for one hour weekly. AZ Assurance Scholars are given priority.

Program purpose: To ensure the successful graduation of STEM students and expose them to an outside the classroom experience related to their STEM major.

Benefits:

1. This program prepares you with concrete skills to be successful in managing your STEM coursework and understanding the resources available. At least 85% of our ASEM Scholars continue to pursue a STEM major by their third year.

2. It also partners you with a staff/faculty mentor who is knowledgeable about your STEM field. ASEMS provides a community of peers, staff, and faculty that are tracking your academic progress and well-being and provides guidance in applying for advanced programs such as summer research programs, internships, UBRP, MARC, and the NASA Space Grant Programs.

3. ASEMS helps you become more marketable to professors if you are interested in working in a lab on campus, an internship, a summer research program, or an experiential learning position.
- Space is limited

- Please see the attached flyer and submit the attached application to scelayas at email.arizona.edu<mailto:scelayas at email.arizona.edu> by December 31, 2014.

- There are two sections for the course: one section will be on Mondays at 11:00 a.m. and the second section will be on Wednesdays at 1:00 p.m.
- ***If you are interested in adding this course for the spring, please contact me directly since students cannot register for this class themselves.***
