HI Everyone,
This looks like it might be a fun opportunity and a great experience for any students interested in a change of scenery and working with youth.
Thanks for sharing it with your students.
Kyle
Accepting Applications for an Internship with a Progressive Farm to School Program:
Livingston, Montana's farm to school program is offering a unique agricultural education internship for the upcoming growing season starting in June and running through the end of August. We'll be hiring college and high school interns to work together to maintain our school district's growing spaces. The produce grown will be distributed weekly to our community through Student Farmer Community Supported Agriculture Shares (8-10 shares for the season). Another portion will be used to supplement lunches for our K-5 summer school program, LINKS for Learning.
Your role as a college intern is to provide guidance to our students in the garden. You will be asked to develop and teach your own lesson plans. Throughout the summer you'll work closely with the Farm to School Coordinator and have access to the Curriculum Director, both of who are strong believers in place based agricultural education. The goal of our summer garden program is to better connect our students with their food system, develop job skills, and understand that agriculture is a viable career path.
Our farm to school program is also working towards turning our schools into food production sites. Currently we're applying for a number of grants aiming to create an animal husbandry program. If you have a strong interest in farm to school we would welcome the input and developmental work from any of our college interns!
Please contact Genna Williams, Livingston Farm to School Coordinator with questions or send a cover letter and resume to genna.williams at livingston.k12.mt.us<mailto:genna.williams at livingston.k12.mt.us> to apply.
