All,
Please encourage your faculty to participate in this. I am going, so if any of you are willing, we could carpool and reduce expenses.

Dear colleagues,
I thank you for the recruitment you have already done for judges for the Intel International S&E Fair. I’ve just received an update from the Fair organizer, and he’s still looking for many more volunteers. Please see his message below this one, and at the bottom my original message to you from December. It’d be great if UA could generate some more volunteers, so I hope you will be willing to put out the call once again. Attached is the “new judge invitation letter” in case you want to use it again. Thanks very much.
Best,
Leslie

Subject: Judge update
Dear Recruitment Committee members,
Attached you will find the March summary of judges from major employers in the Valley. We would like to commend those of you who have helped recruit, particularly at Intel, ASU, U of A, and TGen as these organizations have contributed a significant number of judges. The employer numbers that are highlighted in yellow represent no change.
At this point there are 550 judges officially registered, with about half coming from out of state. However, with less than two months to go, we need to recruit at least an additional 500 judges almost exclusively within our state. Also, as you can see, there are still several categories in serious need of judges, especially Animal and Plant Sciences and Microbiology. We are trying to do everything we can to ensure that there are enough judges to interview the 1,500+ student finalists at he Fair, several of whom will be from Arizona, but this is a big task and we cannot succeed without your help!
Thank you for your continuing effort to make the 2005 Intel ISEF a success!
Sincerely,
Lorna and Bill

Subject: recruiting judges for Intel Science and Engineering Fair in May
Dear colleagues,
I have agreed to help recruit judges for the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair, said to be the world's largest competition, to be held in the Phoenix Convention Center May 12 -17. They need over 1,000 qualified judges for the event. Intel ISEF will also be coming to Phoenix in 2016 and 2019, with a strong possibility of continuation beyond these years depending in large part on Arizona’s ability to provide the necessary volunteers to support the fair. The potential impact of the continuing presence of this international competition on education in the core STEM disciplines of science, technology, engineering and mathematics in Arizona could be great.
Would you please forward the attached letter of invitation to your faculty? Also, if any indicate an interest in being a co-chair in any of the 17 categories of competition (see www.societyforscience.org/page.aspx?pid=470<http://www.societyforscience.org/page.aspx?pid=470>), please let me know. Co-chairs will need to devote two full days (May 14 and 15) to the fair, and new co-chairs will be paired with experienced ones to help build a co-chair base in Arizona. The co-chair's most important responsibility is to manage discussion sessions within their categories to determine grand award winners.
Thanks very much!
Best,
Leslie
