Subject: [UPAC] Exceptions Summary Page
Dear Advising Community,
As part of our efforts to improve the exceptions process a Student
Exceptions Summary page has been created. This page essentially gives the
highlights of all the active exceptions on a student's record, allowing
advisors to quickly and more easily see what exceptions exists. Our hope is
that this page can help alleviate the redundancy of having to look at each
exception individually to determine what is being used and where, and help
ease the process of reviewing exceptions for students who change plans.
This new page can be found at the following navigation in UAccess:
Academic Advisement > Student Advisement > UA Exceptions Summary
A few highlights:
. A summary will be given for each line that has an exception. The
first screenshot shows the summary for Tier I INDV. Since two courses were
directed to the line it displays the data on those two courses.
. Notice the red box below: the exceptions summary page will display
not only the course as it appears on the advisement report but also the
"Incoming Course" that transferred in from an external institution, which
normally only appears on transfer credit report. In this example, one can
see that this particular POL 1TR was originally POLS 101. Model, group, and
sequence are also provided.
. The Override number (highlighted in the green box) is a link that
can take you directly to the exception should you want to make a change or
review it in more detail.

. This second screen shot shows the exceptions made in the major, so
additional program and plan data is given.
. Notice that the summary tells you the "Type" of action that was
taken (either a substitution or exclusion) and also gives the course source
utilized.

. The summary also includes Requirement Change and Requirement
Waiver exceptions. Here is an example of a line with a Course Directive and
Requirement Change.
