Subject: Important Update regarding DQ report
Importance: High
As you know, our current practice for making the disqualification decision
is based on results through spring only. While students are allowed to keep
their pre-session courses, we cancel summer 1, summer 2, and fall courses.
Gail has approved the use of pre-session courses AND summer 1 courses if you
think the student can be saved by attending through summer 1.
I realize it is very late in the game for this go-around. I have not
canceled any courses yet. If you have students who you think could get well
by attending summer 1, and you've already DQd them, send me an email and I
will remove it.
You may disqualify these students at the conclusion of summer 1 if they are
unsuccessful. Please be aware that the timing of this will be very tight.
Summer 1 ends on July 5th and summer 2 begins July 9th. It's possible that
by the time the summer 1 grades come in, summer 2 will have already begun,
and we'll need to cancel those summer 2 classes. You'll need to watch for
grades and notify me right away if you've DQd someone (yes, over that
weekend in between summer 1 and 2).
Also - please be careful if you do DQ a student at that time. We're still
disqualifying for Spring 2012. Don't put the DQ on the summer term.
Let me know if you have any questions. As a reminder, the deadline for
disqualifying students is coming up on Tuesday, May 29th at 5 PM.
Jody
