Dear Colleagues and Friends,

 

Just a gentle reminder that our upcoming deadline for Nominations for the U.
of AZ Hispanic Alumni (UAHA) Outstanding Graduating Seniors and Graduating
Graduate/Professional Students is Friday, March 9th.  Attached is updated
information (some corrections were made from the initial 3-D mailing).
Please share this with your colleagues, as students may be nominated or may
self-nominate.

 

In summary, details for the award are as follows:

*	Students must be graduating in either May 2012 or December 2012.
*	Each of the four honorees will receive an award of $500.
*	Honorees will be recognized at a luncheon on Thursday, April 26 at
the Arizona Inn. 
*	Additionally, the honorees will be recognized at the CHSA
Convocation, Wednesday, May 9th. 

UAHA looks forward to receiving your nominations of outstanding students.

Subject:               2012 UAHA Outstanding Graduating Senior and Graduate
Professional Student Awards

 

The UA Hispanic Alumni will recognize two undergraduate students and two
graduate/professional students with the 2012 UAHA "Outstanding Senior Award"
and "Outstanding Graduate Student Award," respectively.  Student honorees
receive $500 awards and will be recognized at the UAHA Celebration of
Excellence Luncheon on Thursday, April 26, 2012.

 

You may wish to nominate an exceptional student, or students may
self-nominate.  To be considered for these awards, the following applies: 

 

Criteria

Please nominate students who:

- Have demonstrated above-average scholastic ability, citizenship,
leadership and promise for the future.

Please do not nominate students based only on cumulative grade point
average. These awards are for well-rounded individuals whose contributions
through co-curricular and community activities and leadership are evident,
and who can demonstrate knowledge and understanding of Hispanic heritage and
who are committed to serving the Hispanic community.

 

These awards are open to all without regard to race, ethnicity, national
origin or other protected categories, in compliance with the University's
Non-Discrimination Policy [http://equity.arizona.edu/policies].

 

Eligibility

Eligible students include:

*	currently enrolled UA seniors or graduate/ professional students,
graduating in May or December 2012, who have been enrolled at the UA for a
minimum of two consecutive years.

 


Submittals


Please submit:

*	A completed Nomination Form,
*	A personal statement from the nominee,
*	A list of the nominee's activities, honors and awards and
*	A letter of recommendation from a school official, preferably a
faculty member, advisor, or dean from nominee's college.

 

Complete Nomination Packets are due by 5 pm on Friday, March 9, 2012 to:
