Dear Department Representatives,

 

New functionality has been added to the Class Search page for students,
faculty and staff in UAccess Student. In addition to the Course Subject,
Course Number, and Course Career fields that were previously available in
the main Class Search area, the following fields have been added:

 

.         Course Title Keyword: search by a word or phrase that appears in
the title of the course (eg, searching for the keyword "magnetic" brings up
both ECE 381 "Introductory Electromagnetics" and PHYS 484 "Nuclear Magnetic
Resonance Spectroscopy").

.         Mode of Instruction: search for courses with "In Person,"
"Hybrid," "Fully Online," or other modes of instruction.

.         Class Attribute: search by attributes that are given to sections.
Examples would include General Education courses (search by Tier One course
type such as INDV 103), Honors courses, and Writing Emphasis courses. Up to
two attribute/attribute value combinations can be used at a time (eg, a
search could be done on all Honors TRAD 101 classes, or all Writing Emphasis
Honors courses, etc).

 



 

These fields were previously available under the "Additional Search
Criteria" area, but their inclusion in the main search area will make them
more accessible to the public. The option for the Class Attribute field
previously only allowed for one attribute/attribute value combination to be
selected at a time, limiting its usefulness.

 

 

 

In addition to the new placement of search criteria fields, new fields have
been added to the Search Results page. Class Attributes and Course Fees will
now show up on the initial search results for each section, so that students
can view that information at a glance without having to view the Class
Details page for each individual section.
