Advisors,

Please feel free to share this with your students. ENGL306 - Advanced
Composition is great for students who want to go beyond ENGL102 and also
students who took ENGL109H and might require a second semester writing
course (future Medical or Law school applicants).

Thank you for sharing!

English 306 – Advanced Composition

This course introduces you to the theory and practice of writing within
multiple genres. Throughout the semester you will engage in projects that
require you to analyze and respond to a variety of rhetorical situations and
to write for an identified audience. You will be encouraged to view
yourselves as writers through such requirements as daily writing
assignments, frequent peer reviews, and close attention to style. Together
we will explore rhetoric in popular culture, fandom, non-traditional
compositions (fan fiction, vidding, etc.), and what Henry Jenkins calls
convergence—a “word that describes technological, industrial, cultural, and
social changes in the ways media circulates within our culture” (322).[1]

Projects for this course include individual and collaborative writing,
on-campus research, and the use of classroom technologies.
