Financial Aid

Subject: New Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) Standards for Federal
Financial Aid

New Federal Regulations pertaining to Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP)
standards for Federal Financial Aid has gone into effect July 1, 2011. These
new standards are located at:
http://financialaid.arizona.edu/awards/standards/

Qualitative SAP Standard: Minimum Cumulative GPA is 2.0 for undergraduates
and 3.0 graduates.

New Quantitative SAP Standard is now called "Pace": Students must
successfully complete 66% of their cumulative units attempted to meet Pace.
Pace = Cumulative number of hours (credit hours) student successfully
completed Cumulative number of
hours (credit hours) student attempted
Timeframe SAP Standard: Students may not exceed 150 % of the published
length of the undergraduate graduation unit requirement.

Students who do not meet SAP standards will need to complete a SAP Appeal
form with a SAP Academic Plan or an Academic Contract with an academic
advisor.

A SAP Appeal form with an Academic Contract is only needed if the students'
SAP status is "Not Meet." Probation or Warning SAP statuses allow the
student to receive institutional and federal aid for the upcoming term.
