Due to a "technical hitch" that is unknown to us, last week's Tuesday
Morning Notes ONLY went out to our Specialists listserv.and no one else.
Thanks to Susan Pater who caught the "omission." Our apologies.

Tuesday Morning Notes

November 8, 2011

TECH TIP OF THE WEEK:

In previous tech tips, we have mentioned the need to update programs. One
case in which this is important is when a program version is no longer
supported by the vendor. While an outdated version may still function,
updates (including security updates) are no longer provided. This puts your

computer and other computers at risk. This happened last week (11/3/2011),
when Adobe announced that support is discontinued for Acrobat 8 and Acrobat
Reader 8 <http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/920/cpsid_92001.html> . Adobe supports
the current version and next most current version (Acrobat/Acrobat Reader X
and 9). Any computer with older versions (8, 7, etc.) should be updated.
This can easily be done for Acrobat Reader by using the filehippo Update
Checker program, or by going to http://get.adobe.com/reader/. Acrobat (the
full version) must be updated by purchasing a new license from the CATS
Bookstore.

HEALTHY FOOD FACEBOOK CONTEST:

Don't forget to join us on Facebook
<http://www.facebook.com/ArizonaCooperativeExtension> for the Healthy Food
Contest which takes place during the month of November. The contest will
feature pictures of healthy food options as well as health facts about each.
Upload a picture of a healthy food today, let us know what makes it healthy,
and enter to win the Living Well
<http://www.neafcs.org/content.asp?pageID=1648> cookbook! Check out the
flyer

/resource/decleene/Healthy%20Food.pdf> for more information and feel free
to share.

UA CARES CAMPAIGN REMINDER:

The 2011 UA Cares campaign in in full swing. This is a time when University
employees have the opportunity to donate to any programs of choice here at
the University and to non-profit initiatives locally, nationally and
globally. Payroll deduction gifts can be made online through UAccess, then
Self Service, then Payroll & Compensation, and then UA Cares. As a reminder
there is the opportunity for you to choose to donate online to help purchase
the Mingus Springs Camp & Outdoor Learning Center for a State 4-H Camp. The
account number is 02-11010.1996. UA Cooperative Extension can make a
considerable impact on the university and the community! We urge you to
participate and make a contribution to a program that is meaningful to you -
a gift of any size makes a difference. Also note, there have been some
problems accessing the online form from off-campus. If you are having
problems, try to connect via the UA VPN network and you should be able to
access the form.
