FOCUS ON ADMINISTRATION:
I am pleased to announce that Kirk Astroth has been appointed by Dean Sander
as the Interim Director of Extension (as well as Interim Associate Dean,
CALS) effective July 1.
FOCUS ON FACULTY:
Also effective July 1, Kurt Nolte will take on a dual role as CED for Yuma
County and Resident Director for the Yuma Ag Center (while Charles Sanchez
is on sabbatic leave).
FOCUS ON PROGRAMS:
The Norton School of Family & Consumer Sciences is proud to announce the
recipients of the Second Annual Shirley Jo Taylor Externship. This is an
annual offering, utilizing a Norton school gift with a Frances McClelland
Institute match. Danielle Burr, an FSHD major, was selected for a paid
externship under Beth Tucker, in Coconino County. Danielle Burr will be
working with Grandparents Raising Grandchildren, Children of Incarcerated
Parents, KKONA, and Brain Builders. Congratulations Beth and Danielle! We
look forward to great collaboration between FSHD students and the extension
sites. If you would like more information about how to have FSHD interns in

EXTENSION STAFF OF THE YEAR AWARD NOMINATIONS:
There are only 3 days left to submit nominations for the 2011 Outstanding
Staff in Cooperative Extension Award - nomination deadline is Friday, June
24. If you plan to submit, be sure to let us know. Nomination criteria

read the criteria carefully, submitting only the materials noted (no vitas).

The Arizona Section Society for Range Management Summer Meetings will be
held at the V Bar V Ranch, August 3-5. See the ranch, learn about 15 years
of research and educational work that has been done there (and the
