FOCUS ON PROGRAMS:
Best Bones Forever! is a national bone health campaign led by the U.S.
Department of Health and Human Services' Office on Women's Health. Arizona
Osteoporosis Coalition, University of Arizona Cooperative Extension, Bone
Builders <http://www.bonebuilders.org/> and others are bringing the contest
to Arizona. The goal of the campaign is to encourage girls and their BFFs
to build strong bones by getting plenty of calcium, vitamin D, and physical
activity. Best Bones Forever! and Savvy are teaming up to encourage girls
to get moving and build strong bones by launching the Let's Dance contest.
>From June 21-August 10, 9-18 year-old girls across the country are invited
to choose one of five Savvy songs, choreograph a dance with their BFFs,
record a video of themselves performing the routine, then upload the video
to the contest website <http://www.bbfletsdance.com/> . Friends and family
will be encouraged to "like" the videos and winners will get cool prizes,
including a chance to be featured in a Savvy music video. Arizona winners
will be recognized at an Arizona Diamondbacks game in September! Visit the
Best Bones Forever! Let <http://www.bbfletsdance.com/> 's Dance website for
all the details.
AFFIRMATIVE ACTION STATEMENT CHANGE:
The Affirmative Action statement for Extension needs to be updated to
reflect the change from Jim Christenson, who retired July 1, to Kirk
Astroth. An updated version is available on line
<http://extension.arizona.edu/state/equal-opportunity-affirmative-action-sta
tement> (in both English and Spanish). This is effective immediately on
all new Extension-related publications, newsletters, and the like. If you
have any questions, contact our office.

Be a part of the FIRST EVER University of Arizona Cooperative Extension
