“Overseeding winter grasses into bermudagrass turf”<https://extension.arizona.edu/sites/extension.arizona.edu/files/pubs/az1683-2015.pdf> describes procedures for successful winter turf establishment.  Ideally, weather conditions will be much cooler and conducive for overseeding around mid-October.  In the meantime, gradually prepare the existing turf by NOT completely cutting off water, DO NOT completely scalp to the bare ground, DON’T aggressively beat up the bermudagrass with aerifying or deep vertical mowing immediately prior to overseeding.

Coming events:
25th Annual Maricopa County Short Course will be November 1, 2019, Friday morning, at the Cooperative Extension office in Phoenix.  The topic will be “Herbicide performance: Improved efficacy and safety in crops and landscapes” with special emphasis on herbicide off-target movement and mitigation with new products and spray technologies.
