*** The University of Arizona Annual Turfgrass Field Day will be Wednesday morning, May 4, at the UA Karsten Research Facility in Tucson. Featured tentative topics, demonstrations, and displays will be irrigation & salinity research; turf colorants; fraise mowing; weed control; maintenance comparison of natural vs. synthetic turf systems; and NTEP plots. *** First time pesticide applicators for the AZ Dept of Ag (not OPM) pesticide applicators license can take advantage of attending a “Review and Training” session followed by taking the examination on April 29, Friday at the Maricopa County Cooperative Extension office. There is no fee for the training or exam.  No CEU’s will be available for current license holders.  See attached details and register or go to: http://turf.arizona.edu

*** Calibration of spray equipment is critical for accurate pesticide applications so a workshop is being planned for later in April.  Watch for details to come.

*** An OPM CEU’s Session will be scheduled on May 23, Monday, to provide license holders a last minute opportunity to secure 1 to 6 hours as needed.  Tentative topics will be on basics of school IPM; weed ID and control; personal protection equipment; insecticide selection criteria for pests; and keeping rodents out of schools. Details and costs will be announced soon.
