An economic impact study was compiled and describes the “Contribution of the Golf Industry to the Arizona Economy”. https://cals.arizona.edu/arec/publication/contribution-golf-industry-arizona-economy-2014

Members of the Department of Agricultural & Resource Economics and Cooperative Extension at the University of Arizona College of Agriculture and Life Sciences unveiled and presented the report today along with the Cactus and Pine Golf Course Superintendents Association at the Gainey Ranch Golf Club in Scottsdale.

Spotlighted in the report are the $3.9 billion total economic contribution; 41,700 jobs supported; $72 million in state and local taxes; 11.6 million rounds of golf; golf courses used 1.9% of total freshwater withdrawals; and residential real estate premiums in golf communities was valued at nearly $2.1 billion.

Thank you to the Cactus and Pine GCSA for coordinating the study with the Club Managers Association of America and Southwest Section Professional Golfers Association and for generating the support and generosity from many allied associations and companies and golf clubs.
