Thanks Kamel. Once we hire a program manager we’ll be off and running. Any input on the desired attributes for someone to run the type of program outlined is more than welcome.
What is AU, or did you mean UA?

Thanks Matt,
I am interested in meeting with UA/Yuma colleagues who are investing in UAS/Drones and exchange notes.
Maybe we can also enlist the AU help (!!??) with respect to Liability/Insurance and FAA rules and how to centralize our efforts and mutually support the different efforts.
I think many of us are doing this at the hobby level so far and that probably needs to change.
Cheers-

Hello,
A few folks from CALS, CyVerse, College of Engineering, and USDA-ARS met last week to discuss the potential of a UAS program based in Yuma, AZ. The program is proposed by Paul Brierley, Director of the Yuma Center for Excellence in Desert Agriculture (YCEDA<https://yceda.cals.arizona.edu/>), a center housed within CALS. Paul has drafted a bulleted list of the program’s main functions, but would really like your feedback.
Check out “UAS Drone Program Proposal.pdf” within this Box folder:

Please send any feedback directly to him at paulbrierley at email.arizona.edu<mailto:paulbrierley at email.arizona.edu> and/or back to this list.
I’ve also uploaded a few other PDFs… one of which is a Data Sheet for the HQ-40B UAS airframe. The YQ-H40B is manufactured by a small engineering firm near campus, Latitude Engineering<https://latitudeengineering.com/>. Their airframe boasts five hours of flight time.
One other note: Our group is looking at creating a half-day mini-conference near the end of the semester which would give researchers the opportunity to present usage of unmanned aerial systems in their research areas. Please email if you’re interested in participating.
Thanks,
Matt
