<p class="MsoNormal">We, ALVSCE Staff Council, are excited to announce our inaugural ALVSCE Gives Back week this year from October 27<sup>th</sup> through November 2<sup>nd</sup>. Held in tandem with UA Cares, this week is an opportunity for us all to embody
the ALVSCE divisional value of <i>compassion</i> and give back to our communities beyond what we do every day. We challenge all our staff to find some time to volunteer in their community during that week. <o:p></o:p></p>

<p class="MsoNormal">The ALVSCE Staff Council has organized 2 volunteer opportunities in Tucson with Ben’s Bells (October 29) and the Community Food Bank of Southern Arizona (October 30). <b><a href="https://forms.office.com/r/jUdut1hSkn">Visit this link for

<p class="MsoNormal">For those not able to join us in person, we have also compiled a list of
<a href="https://compass.arizona.edu/content/alvsce-staff-council">additional volunteer opportunities</a> that you can take part in around the community or from the comfort of your home. We encourage all our staff to volunteer with non-profits that are close
to your home- and your heart! <o:p></o:p></p>

<p class="MsoNormal">As a reminder, the university provides full-benefits-eligible employees up to eight hours of paid time off each calendar year for volunteer activity that meets certain qualifying conditions. Note that per the policy, employers must <b>request
and receive prior written approval </b>from their supervisor (e.g., via email) before using paid time off for volunteer service.
