further implement regenerative ranching principles and practices. Specifically,
the ranch is seeking to hire an Assistant Ranch Manager who will work directly
with the ranch owners with an open mind towards new methods in cattle handling,
grazing management, soil and forage resiliency, profitability and production,
and the worth of individual contribution and wellbeing. Experience working with
stocker cattle, managing personnel, and executing high density grazing plans

<p class="ydpb71e1913MsoNormal">The Birdwell and Clark ranch is a 12,000 acre ranch in North
Central Texas near Henrietta, Texas. The ranch is a stocker operation running
7,000 + head of cattle in various enterprises including a Big Herd on the ranch,
cattle on wheat, and cattle on leased grass pastures in other locations.</p>
<p class="ydpb71e1913MsoNormal">The Assistant Manager position at Birdwell and Clark Ranch
is open to a qualified applicant looking for a continued learning experience in
regenerative ranching practices, training and managing a competent and
productive labor pool, contributing to the health of livestock, managing ranch
resources including equipment and infrastructure, and desirous of a long-term
association with the ranch.</p>
<p class="ydpb71e1913MsoNormal">Primary Responsibilities:</p>
<p class="ydpb71e1913MsoNormal">• Train and manage 3 – 4 employees with a focus on teamwork,
productivity, profitability, and continued learning in regenerative practices</p>
<p class="ydpb71e1913MsoNormal">• Make effective decisions to support herd and individual
animal health following ranch protocols</p>
<p class="ydpb71e1913MsoNormal">• Implement actions required to successfully implement the
grazing plan developed by ranch owner; plan involves multiple daily moves of
the herd(s) requiring moving and monitoring water troughs and polywire fencing
and allocating labor as needed</p>
<p class="ydpb71e1913MsoNormal">• Maintain equipment and organization of ranch inventory of
tools and materials</p>
<p class="ydpb71e1913MsoNormal">• Communicate routinely with ranch owners regarding daily
operations; participate in management discussions regarding budgets and
financial goals</p>
<p class="ydpb71e1913MsoNormal">• Participate in biological monitoring practices and
protocols</p>
<p class="ydpb71e1913MsoNormal">New Responsibilities and Opportunities:</p>
<p class="ydpb71e1913MsoNormal">• Learn to use dogs effectively in herd management during
moves; opportunity to own dogs</p>
<p class="ydpb71e1913MsoNormal">• Maintain 3 – 4 work horses on ranch; grass and feed
provided; arena available for riding and training during personal time</p>
<p class="ydpb71e1913MsoNormal">• Opportunity to run and own cattle; specifics and details

<p class="ydpb71e1913MsoNormal">• Participate in continuing education workshops and classes
focused on soil health, grazing management, and monitoring protocols</p>
<p class="ydpb71e1913MsoNormal">• Participate in helping ranch evaluate new livestock
enterprises</p>
<p class="ydpb71e1913MsoNormal">• If applicant has a spouse or partner, there is possibility
of an administrative and bookkeeping position depending on experience</p>

<p class="ydpb71e1913MsoNormal">• Ability to identify and treat “sick cattle”</p>
<p class="ydpb71e1913MsoNormal">• Experience with low stress cattle handling techniques</p>
<p class="ydpb71e1913MsoNormal">• Prior experience managing employees in a teamwork context</p>
<p class="ydpb71e1913MsoNormal">• Ability to operate and maintain ranch equipment</p>
<p class="ydpb71e1913MsoNormal">• Eagerness and openness to learn new skills in cattle
handling, forage monitoring, and grazing planning</p>
<p class="ydpb71e1913MsoNormal">• Resourceful in problem solving, demonstrating initiative,
and effective communication skills</p>
