limited food access and to experience food insecurity. These communities are also more likely to engage in self-provisioning through growing, fishing, and foraging for cultural reasons or to address gaps in conventional food systems. In this multi-institution,
multidisciplinary project, we seek to address this gap by mapping the alternative food provisioning networks of immigrant communities and communities of color in three U.S. East Coast cities—Providence, RI; Baltimore, MD; and Washington, DC—to better understand
the dynamics of these networks, to measure their contributions to urban social-ecological systems, and to identify the factors contributing to or impeding their success in ecosystem services provisioning, with a focus on food production. </span></p>
<p dir="ltr" style="line-height:1.38; margin-top:12pt; margin-bottom:12pt"><span style="font-size:12pt; font-family:"Times New Roman"; font-variant-ligatures:normal; font-variant-east-asian:normal; vertical-align:baseline; white-space:pre-wrap">The successful
