<p class="MsoNormal"><b><span style="color:black">The masters student (M.S.) will work with Stephanie Yelenik and Alexandra Urza at the US Forest Service, Rocky Mountain Research Station, and Bob Shriver at the University of Nevada-Reno.
</span></b><span style="color:black;background:white">Our labs use a combination of field monitoring, field and greenhouse experiments, soil studies, remote sensing, and mathematical and statistical modeling to understand plant community ecology, plant-soil
interactions, invasive species impacts, and restoration best practices to help inform management decisions.<b><o:p></o:p></b></span></p>
<p><span style="color:black;background:white">The student will lead a project investigating how the density and timing of post-fire reseeding efforts interacts with interannual variability in temperature and rainfall to affect restoration success. The project
takes place in the Wildland Urban Interface (WUI) in Reno, NV, though sites and questions can be expanded to fit the student’s interests.
</span>The student will lead fieldwork data collection, lab and greenhouse work, data management and analysis. The position would begin in Spring 2023.

<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="color:black;background:white">The ideal candidates for the positions have previous field ecological research and data analysis experience (e.g. R, math/statistics coursework), are highly self-motivated, comfortable working
in sometimes remote field sites, and have a strong interest in being a part of a collaborative team. Position is fully funded, with stipend of at least $2000 per month</span>.

base of the eastern Sierra Nevada Mountains with incredible access to outdoor recreational activities including skiing, climbing, hiking, and mountain biking. We are ~45 minutes from Lake Tahoe, 2.5 hours from Yosemite and Lassen National Parks, and 3.5 hours
from San Francisco Bay Area. Reno also has a diverse artistic and cultural community with much to offer.</span><o:p></o:p></span></p>
