<p class="MsoNormal"><i>The Glory of the West </i>is a student-produced film detailing the conservation history of the Greater sage-grouse, a <span style="font-family:"Helvetica",sans-serif">beautiful and culturally significant bird species that is native to
the steppe of North America. Its range spans 11 US states, but the sage-grouse's distribution is being increasingly threatened by habitat loss via land conversion, which has seen their <b>nationwide populations decline by every metric in the past 40 years</b>.<b> </b>Princeton
University student Patrick Newcombe spent weeks in the field observing Greater sage-grouse and interviewing the critical stakeholders that play a role in the species's complex conservation story. The result was a documentary film that uses testimonies from
ecologists, ranchers, conservationists, energy executives, politicians, journalists, and other local players to represent every perspective on this fascinating crossroads of competing interests that is, in many ways, illustrative of the larger fight for biodiversity
protection in the 21st Century United States. </span><o:p></o:p></p>
