This position is a permanent, full-time GS12 leadership position with the National Park Service at Yosemite National Park, and it is
<b><u>open to the public</u></b>! Travel, transportation, and relocation expenses will be paid if the selectee lives outside of the local commuting area and is otherwise eligible for reimbursement of relocation expenses in accordance with the Federal Travel

We are launching a nationwide search for our next <b>Branch Chief of Physical Sciences and Landscape Ecology</b>. PSLE is one of six branches of the Resources Management and Science Division at Yosemite National Park. This is a relatively small (about 5 permanent
staff and a dozen or so time-limited and seasonal positions), but extremely important branch in our division and the park. The staff are highly knowledgeable, skilled scientists who want a supportive, communicative, competent and organized leader to support
and guide their work. The branch chief is closely involved with park-level decision making through close coordination with the RMS Division Chief and the Yosemite Leadership Team (which consists of all 7 division chiefs, the Public Affairs Officer, the Chief
of Staff, and the Superintendent and Deputy Superintendent). This branch provides much of the science support for dealing with park emergencies such as fires, rockfalls, and floods, as well as public health issues relating to air quality and smoke. Although
we currently don’t have a specific focus on climate change, we are looking to the PSLE branch to provide leadership in climate change issues as they directly influence hydrology, fire risk, and other conditions important to park natural and cultural resources.
Experience with climate adaptation planning and/or decision analysis frameworks is a plus.
