<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom:0in;margin-bottom:.0001pt">At last count, there are 28 undergraduate students and 5 graduate students in the degree option called Ecology, Management and Restoration of Rangelands. We are thrilled to have you aboard
and we look forward to working with you and helping you achieve your academic and professional goals.</p>

<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom:0in;margin-bottom:.0001pt">First, I provide an update on Range Courses (RAM) this semester, with a reminder to complete RAM487/587 if you plan to graduate before May 2021.<span style="mso-spacerun:yes">
</span>Next, I present four suggestions and a course update to help you navigate the system at the University of Arizona.</p>

<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom:0in;margin-bottom:.0001pt"><b style="mso-bidi-font-weight:normal">RAM Courses this Semester and Path to Graduation</b></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom:0in;margin-bottom:.0001pt">Please be aware that the
<b style="mso-bidi-font-weight:normal"><u>required</u></b><u> <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight:normal">
course</b></u> called Range Plan (RAM 487/587, Wed 2:00-4:30) is offered this Spring 2019, but will not be offered again until Spring 2021. This course is
<b style="mso-bidi-font-weight:normal"><u>only offered</u></b> in odd-numbered years. Therefore, if you plan to graduate before May 2021, you must complete this class in Spring 2019. Please plan accordingly so that you complete this course to meet the graduation
requirements.<span style="mso-spacerun:yes"> </span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom:0in;margin-bottom:.0001pt"> </p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom:0in;margin-bottom:.0001pt">Other RAM courses this semester are:</p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom:0in;margin-bottom:.0001pt"><u>RAM 382 Rangeland Plant Communities of the West.</u> I teach the lecture TTH 11-150 and lab TH 3:30-6:00.
</p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom:0in;margin-bottom:.0001pt"><u>RAM 340 Conservation and Agriculture in the Southwest</u>. Aaron Lien teaches the lectures from 2:00-3:15 on TTH and there are several Saturday field trips planned.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom:0in;margin-bottom:.0001pt"><u>RAM 446/556 Management and Restoration of Wildland Vegetation</u>. Jeff Fehmi teaches the lectures MWF 10:00-10:50, and the lab 12:00-6:00 on Friday.</p>

<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom:0in;margin-bottom:.0001pt">One Study Abroad Class this Summer</p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom:0in;margin-bottom:.0001pt"><u>RNR 397a Sustaining Local Food, Biodiversity, and Livestock Grazing in the Alps</u>. I teach that class from 17-30 June 2019.<span style="mso-spacerun:yes">

Visit the Italian Alps to experience the positive relationship between local cheeses, biodiversity and livestock grazing. During trips to small dairy farms and pastures, and overnights in mountain lodges (rifugi), we will evaluate how grazing sustains biodiversity
of plants, insects and birds, and provides continued production of unique cheeses that sustain the livelihood of alpine pastoralists.</div>

<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom:0in;margin-bottom:.0001pt">If you plan to graduate this semester (May 2019), then you must complete a Senior Degree Check, and you should start by filing for a degree check in your UAccess Student Center under Next
Steps. The procedure is a bit different than previous years, and it will include a required completion of a graduation survey. Katie Hughes will be contacting you about that survey in the near future. In addition, she will provide more details about the entire
process. Do not delay the start of this process!</p>
