<p>
This position is located in the Division of Integrated
Resource Management at Point Reyes National Seashore in Marin County,
California, and is under the direction of the Range Program Manager.
Ranching on the Point Reyes Peninsula dates back to the mid-1800's and
the Point Reyes National Seashore currently manages 28,000 acres of beef
cattle and dairy ranching consisting of 24 individual operations
authorized under agricultural lease/permits, that include terms and
conditions for the protection of natural and cultural resources. These
grazed landscapes include extensive coastal prairie, coastal dunes,
California annual grassland, riparian and forested habitat and support a
rich diversity of native plant and animal species, including over 65
special-status species.<br>
<br>
You will initiate, foster, and maintain relationships/partnerships with a
variety of stakeholders, who may have opposing views and opinions, in
order to maintain agricultural operations and enhance environmental
quality on park ranches. Under supervision of the Range Program Manager,
you'll conduct rangeland monitoring and data analysis, including
condition and trend, native coastal plant communities, amount and
patterns of grazing use, stocking rates, and other aspects of resources
and ecosystems to ensure that operations are in compliance with permits
and management goals. You'll assist with the development/application of
conservation practices, restoration projects, weed management strategies
and other protective measures to restore and/or maintain the integrity
of rangeland resources. You will also assist with National Environmental
Policy Act compliance, permitting, preparation of reports, GIS mapping
and spatial analysis, data management, and maintenance of
equipment/supplies. You may serve as the contracting officer's
representative for contracted work on park ranches.<br>

This is a Career-Seasonal position,subject to release/recall procedures.
A permanent career-seasonal position includes all the benefits of
permanent employment, but does not provide employment on a full
year-round basis. You'll be in a non-pay/non-duty status for at least 2
weeks to 6 months per year based on project requirements or weather
conditions but you are guaranteed to work at least 6 months per year,
but not more than 50 weeks per year. The typical season for this
