Hi all,

Hope things are going well for you. Dr. Melinda Ellison has funding for a graduate student to assist in collecting grazing behavior data on Idaho rangelands. There is also opportunity to make comparisons to similar cattle on irrigated pasture.
I have constructed 24 grazing halters with accelerometers (grazing time, walking time, resting time) and GPS devices that we have utilized this summer on 12 low RFI vs 12 high RFI cows on rangeland. We have a huge data set for 3 weeks in June and 4 weeks in
August. We also have some observational data for 4 days in both time periods. Additionally, another graduate student has obtained 4 days forage intake on rangeland for each time period.

This could be an excellent opportunity for the right graduate student who doesn’t mind hard work and large data sets. The graduate student would have opportunity to live in the dorm at the Nancy M. Cummings Research, Extension and Education
Center outside of Salmon when they are not talking classes. Please see the attached flier and distribute to any interested students.
