<pre>Three Bar Ranch in central Montana, has opportunities for summer jobs that might be of interest to some of your students in Animal Science or related fields.<o:p></o:p></pre>
<pre>I would appreciate your assistance in appropriately making this opportunity known at the College. There are potentially 2 spots available.<o:p></o:p></pre>

<pre>Three Bar Ranch is a 3rd generation family owned cattle ranch in Central Montana consisting of about 10,000 acres.<o:p></o:p></pre>
<pre>Our family has considerable connection with the University: all 4 of my sisters and both my daughters have received degrees from the U of A.<o:p></o:p></pre>
<pre>The ranch runs about 600-650 Angus cows in a cow-calf operation with calf sales in October. We calve in March/April so calving is complete.<o:p></o:p></pre>
<pre>This is a working ranch and there would be an opportunity to learn and gain real world experience.<o:p></o:p></pre>
<pre>Summer help would be involved in the following activities:<o:p></o:p></pre>
<pre><o:p> </o:p></pre>
<pre>weed spraying, observing cattle and fencing (June)<o:p></o:p></pre>
<pre>haying - tractor/baler operation, salting and minerals (July)<o:p></o:p></pre>
<pre>cattle moves, summer spraying, stacking, salting and minerals (August)<o:p></o:p></pre>
<pre>general maintenance of fences, spring tanks, barns, corrals, farm equipment as needed<o:p></o:p></pre>
<pre><o:p> </o:p></pre>
<pre>The summer hire would make a monthly salary and receive housing/utilities. Meals would generally not be provided but some ranch beef is available.<o:p></o:p></pre>
<pre>Vehicles are provided for ranch work and transportation to and from the airport in Billings or Great Falls can be provided.<o:p></o:p></pre>
<pre>I anticipate that start dates would be shortly after school lets out in May and end dates would be a week or so before school starts in August.<o:p></o:p></pre>
<pre><o:p> </o:p></pre>
<pre>We would prefer students at the junior level or higher, but those with experience working in Agriculture might be acceptable.<o:p></o:p></pre>

<pre>Our ranch has made some efforts to enhance range management, manage water pollution, reduce confinement, manage noxious weeds, manage pasture land, manage dry land hay production and manage timber. There would be an opportunity to learn about our efforts and to offer improvements in the methods and understand the financial constraints and opportunities.<o:p></o:p></pre>
