<h1>Avian Field Biologists (multiple) with Rocky Mountain Bird Observatory </h1>
Details: <strong>Job Description:</strong> Rocky Mountain Bird Observatory (RMBO) is seeking experienced field biologists to conduct point counts as part of the Integrated Monitoring in Bird Conservation Regions (IMBCR) program. We are currently looking to
fill two positions in Colorado, one position in Wyoming, one position in eastern Utah and one position in the National Park Service’s Northern Colorado Plateau Network.
<strong>The positions will run from early May –mid July 2014 (with the possibility for continued employment entering and proofing data).</strong>
<strong>Technicians will be expected to attend a mandatory paid training prior to beginning field work.</strong> The seven day training will be held in Western Colorado (Colorado and Utah positions) or at the Whitney Preserve in South Dakota (Wyoming position)
and will begin the week before the start of field work (5/5/2014 for Colorado/Utah positions, 5/12/2014 for Wyoming position). Upon successful completion of training, technicians will work independently conducting bird surveys. The standard work schedule will
be ten days on/four days off. Technicians must be able to identify all bird species found in the study area by sight and sound upon successful completion of training, and should expect to hike off-trail regularly in steep, rugged terrain. Primitive camping,
often without phone service or facilities, and some overnight backcountry travel will be required.<br>
<br>
<strong>Qualifications:</strong> Applicants should be enthusiastic, physically fit, enjoy travel and expect to work long hours in the field. Applicants must be able to work and make decisions independently, prioritize work-loads with changing field conditions,
and follow detailed protocols. Applicants should be comfortable hiking long distances, working in rugged sometimes remote locations, driving long distances (often on unpaved or 4wd roads), and spending multiple days alone in the field. A valid driver's license,
proof of auto insurance, binoculars, camping gear, a strong work ethic and enthusiasm are required. Desired qualifications include experience conducting bird surveys, especially point counts, with the ability to identify western bird species by sight and sound,
experience camping, hiking long distances, navigating in the backcountry and working on private lands.

<strong>Compensation:</strong> <strong>$440-$550</strong>/week depending on experience, reimbursement for project related driving and some recreational travel, and up to $100/week in camping and lodging reimbursement. Positions will be filled as suitable applicants
