<div class="yiv5518074108MsoNormal">We are currently recruiting for a Wildlife Specialist position in Columbus, Montana. This will be a full time 13 month NTE (Not To Exceed) position with benefits and potential to renew. It will start out at a GS 5 step 1 (depending on
experience) and the promotion potential is up to a GS 5 step 10 ($31,315 – $40,706). We’re looking for a hardworking, energetic person. We would prefer someone with trapping, hunting and outdoor experience. Someone that can represent our agency well as they
interact with cooperators and other agencies. It will require the ability to work well alone, with minimal direction and in adverse conditions.

<div class="yiv5518074108MsoNormal">This position requires the applicant to be proficient with firearms, traps and snares. They will also be required to use restricted use pesticides, ATV’s, four wheel drive vehicles, pull trailers and work various hours of the day and various
days of the week. They will be doing damage control activities involving wolves, grizzly bears, black bears, mountain lions but the major focus will be on coyotes. They will be covering three counties here in Montana responding to all damage complaints in
their area. Grizzly bears are federally listed as threatened so we need someone who can work closely with the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service as well as the Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks. They will need to be comfortable utilizing drugs to immobilize a federally
listed as threatened species (grizzly bears). They will need proficient skills in conducting investigations of livestock carcasses to determine what carnivore (grizzly bear, black bear, mountain lion, wolf, coyote) was responsible. They will also need good
writing and computer skills for completing investigative reports on livestock depredations involving all 4 of those species.</div>

<div class="yiv5518074108MsoNormal">There is only about 15,000 sheep in the 3 counties this person will be responsible for. Most of the work is for the protection of cattle as there is about 116,000 head of adult cattle in the 3 counties.</div>
