Hello all,<div><br></div><div>It has recently been brought to the attention of Tierra Seca that the Senior Curatorial Specialist position, held by Phil Jenkins at the herbarium in Herring Hall, is under review for dismissal. We feel that Phil is a tremendous resource for students, professors, specialists, governmental agencies, non-governmental organizations, and the general public. His contribution to the university due to his seemingly infinite knowledge of plant species has helped many different people advance their own knowledge and education in the world of botany related to their personal fields. He is an extremely valuable attribute to the community, and we want to do what we can to prevent his departure from the UA. </div>
<div><br></div><div>Tierra Seca has drafted a letter addressed to CALS Dean, Shane Burgess, that expresses many different reasons as to what makes Phil so valuable to the campus and why he should be kept around. We would like to have as many people sign this letter as possible, so as to attempt to make it clear what a mistake it would be to terminate his position. </div>
<div><br></div><div>I have attached a copy of the letter to this email for you to read at this time. In addition, there will be a hard copy of the letter, as well as a page to fill in your name and signature hanging up next to the Tierra Seca bulletin board (on the east side of BSE by the vending machines). Please stop by, as well as encourage others to stop by (but please don't let the pages fall into the trash or recycling bins located ever so conveniently just below the board - that would be very unfortunate, indeed). </div>
<div><br></div><div>We plan to submit the letter and list of signatures as early as Monday and absolutely no later than Wednesday of next week as this is a very time sensitive matter.</div><div><br></div><div>Please let me know if you have any questions, concerns, or suggestions. We appreciate your help!</div>
