My colleagues at SDSU, Dr. Rachel Short and Dr. Josh Leffler, are looking to fill two positions on a USDA NRCS CIG project broadly focused on understanding the impact of bale grazing on a bison ranch in the Sandhills of NE. And yes - funding is a go! 😉

*
Start ASAP
*
Based in Rapid City, SD at the SDSU West River Research & Extension Center
*
PhD position (Leffler)
*
The student will focus on the implications of bale grazing on plant community structure and soil ecosystem function, specifically looking at plant community comp, SOM, soil C flux, as well as developing their own questions.
*
3 years of funding
*
Start May 2025
*
Based in Brookings, SD (on campus) during the academic year; student will be living at the field site during the summer (NE)
