Please share: Summer ranch hand position or internship available for Wheatland, WY cattle grazing operation.
Ranch hand will be responsible for the day-to-day operation of Dallas Mount’s grazing operation that includes two locations.  One just west of Wheatland, WY and another near Garrett, WY 40 miles west of Wheatland.Duties include:• Management and care of 200 hd of cow-calf pairs.  One group of cows on sub-irrigated productive pasture just west of Wheatland and the balance on a ranch 40 miles west of Wheatland in the Laramie Range.  • Daily checking of water and pasture conditions and animal health• Moving temporary electric fence to meet pasture health and animal performance objectives.• Fence repair and construction on mountain ranch• General ranch maintenance tasks• Must possess a valid driver’s license and be able to lift 50 lbs.Learning Opportunities:• You will learn practical application of management-intensive grazing – on the Wheatland place we move cattle daily – when done well it is easy and fun.• Infrastructure development• Receiving cattle and management – will assist in receiving cattle, checking for health, pairing up and settling cattle.• Opportunity to attend Young Adult Ranching for Profit course• Will have the opportunity to lead a project on the place from idea to implementation
Desired Candidate:More interested in attitude than experience.  Will teach skills or help develop existing skills.  Desire to learn about ranching, self-starter, and responsible and positive attitude.  Candidate should be an eager learner, willing to work on their own, comfortable living in remote areas, and able to take care of themselves.  Housing will be a 5th wheel camper much of the summer at the mountain ranch with limited cell coverage.Pay: $2,000 per month + housing and utilities.
