SAQF Habitat Project February 20-21

 

We need a few folks to help out on a project in Pima County while the weather is still cool.


Directions. Work Site: Manville Rd, just east of Reservation Rd. Take 1-10 exit 243 (Avra Road), go west 3.75 miles and turn left of Sandario Road, go 7.7 miles south. Then turn right on Manville Road, head west 3 miles to the project site. We will be on the left side of the road through the metal gate.


What to bring. Hat, sun screen, gloves, long pants, lunch, refillable water bottle and a chair if you want to supervise or sit and enjoy your lunch.


The Chapter and Regional Flood Control District (RFCD) will provide: coffee, bagels, snacks, water, shade tent and a porta-potty.


This is a joint project between the SAQF and the RFCD to help restore habitat and reduce erosion on RFCD managed lands within Pima County. Much like our project on the Coranado Nation Forest we will be constructing one rock dams and Zuni bowls (don’t worry if you don’t know how to do this, we will have expert instructor on hand). These structures slow water runoff, reduce erosion and allow for seasonal moisture retention.


Don’t worry if you can only make it for one day, or part of a day, all help is greatly appreciated.
