Hello!

I am an alumni currently working with the National Park Service. I work on
the outdoor education team, and we have two applications open for a
Bilingual Spanish-English Education Intern. I have included the
application details below along with the website link to apply. Ideally we

Internship - Bilingual Education Intern

Interns work collaboratively as part of the education team based in Arches
National Park to facilitate educational activities and field trips that
connect students to local natural/cultural history in Arches and
Canyonlands national parks and the surrounding landscape.

Interns will play a vital role in our education team as Canyon Country
Outdoor Education works to improve the educational experience within the
National Parks for the Latinx and Spanish-speaking student community. By
providing translation to students during field experiences and developing
language accessible props and materials, interns will create deeper
connections between Latinx and Spanish-speaking students and their public
lands.

This is a great position for applicants with career interests in
place-based learning, classroom teaching, or outdoor/environmental
education.

Successful applicants will have:

   - Spanish language fluency (written and spoken).
   - A strong desire to work with elementary school students.
   - Curiosity about making science learning culturally relevant,
   multilingual, and meaningful for students through facilitating connections
   to their surrounding landscapes in Spanish and English.
   - Ability to competently translate educational materials, props, key
   terms, parent letters, and evaluations for field trips into Spanish.
   - Cultural humility and openness to multiple ways of thinking about
   nature and the environment.
   - Attention to growing as an educator and receiving feedback on teaching
   and teaching materials.
   - A collaborative approach to work and the ability to manage projects
   independently.
   - A state-issued Driver's License and be at least eighteen years of age.

This position is scheduled to align with Grand County School District's
academic year. Time off may be granted over school holidays
