Dear colleague
I hope that this email finds you well. I have recently relocated to KAUST, in Saudi Arabia, and I am right now getting settled down there, setting up my new lab, and recruiting lab members.
In my lab at KAUST we will continue working on the ecology of drylands and their responses to environmental change as we used to do it before, but with a stronger emphasis on applied ecological science. A key research line I will implement will be the ecological restoration of drylands and deserts, which hopefully will deliver relevant science to inform the multiple greening initiatives going across Saudi Arabia and the Middle East. I am looking for a postdoc with expertise on the restoration of dryland ecosystems to work on this area.
Job description: Postdoctoral position, restoration of dryland ecosystems
Salary: 50K-60K USD (tax free), depending on experience and CV
Benefits: Free housing and full medical insurance, 3K USD relocation costs
Duration: 1 year, renewable up to 3 years depending on performance and year of PhD award (postdocs positions at KAUST cannot be extended longer than 5 years after a PhD)
Start date: Fall 2024
Observations: PhD should have been obtained between September 2020 and March 2024. Female candidates are particularly encouraged to apply

I would be very grateful if you could distribute this among potentially interested candidates. Please note that I will not consider candidates without experience in the restoration of dryland ecosystems nor those with a PhD obtained before Sep 2020.
Interested candidates should send their CV, a motivation letter and two references to fernando.maestregil at kaust.edu.sa<mailto:fernando.maestregil at kaust.edu.sa>
