The position leads efforts of three inventory and monitoring networks, and the subject matter experts associated with those programs. The position works with partners including the national inventory and monitoring program, other federal agencies, non-governmental organizations, and universities in an effort to better understand and adaptively manage ecological, and biophysical resources in context to park management needs. Conducts cross program coordination and science communication. The incumbent is responsible for inventory and monitoring, natural resource program management and operational responsibilities assigned by the Natural Resources Associate Regional Director and coordinating with Inventory and Monitoring Networks, the national Inventory and Monitoring Division, universities, non-governmental agencies, Superintendents, and Park Managers, for integrated natural resource support of the Region and its parks. The incumbent's major duties include development of status and trend reports, technical analysis of study results and research, educational and technical assistance programs based on interdisciplinary, multi-scale, systems-oriented approaches to engage and benefit parks and park management decisions.
