The University of Wyoming (UW) seeks to hire a new faculty member at the Assistant Professor level in Rangeland Ecology and Management. The nine-month, tenure-track hire will be housed in the Department of Ecosystem Science and Management (ESM) within the College of Agriculture, Life Sciences, and Natural Resources. The University of Wyoming is a land-grant university dedicated to teaching, research, and extension, and Wyoming is a state characterized by expansive rangelands and diverse natural resources. Currently, UW’s Rangeland Ecology and Watershed Management (REWM) program is one of the largest range programs in the nation and was reaccredited by SRM in 2020.
The successful candidate will join colleagues in ESM that integrate rangeland ecology, watershed management, soil science, and entomology as well as colleagues across the College working in production agriculture, natural resources, and ecology. ESM values a team that represents diverse backgrounds and experiences. The candidate is expected to develop an externally funded, applied research program on Rangeland Ecology and Management with an emphasis on vegetation ecology. In addition, the successful candidate will teach undergraduate courses in the REWM degree program in ESM and support the Ranch Management and Agricultural Leadership undergraduate program. The candidate will also provide professional and university service.
REMOTE WORK ELIGIBILITY:
This position provides vital support to campus customers and requires the successful candidate to be available to work on campus.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- D. in Rangeland Ecology and Management or closely related area
- Evidence of teaching experience at the undergraduate and/or graduate levels
- Evidence of research productivity in the form of peer-reviewed journal publications
- Experience conducting applied research on rangeland vegetation and plant communities
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience conducting collaborative research with private landowners, federal and state agencies and/or special interest groups on rangeland vegetation and plant communities commonly found in Wyoming.
- Evidence of success at obtaining grant funding
- Evidence of mentoring undergraduate and/or graduate research
- Postdoctoral experience
